Donating time for a good cause!

I’ve always tried to donate my time and artistic ability to rescues in need. Over the years I’ve done quite a few for English Springer Rescue America, a rescue dear to my heart. My time has been limited the last several years but I managed to create these very special offerings in 2022 for a fundraising auction. The cookie jar sold for $600!! It was an amazing experience and I hope to have more time to devote to helping rescues of all types!

A Parallel World…

As I was looking at material to revamp my webpage I came across this painting that I did a few years ago. Being involved with canine rescue for so many years I was exposed to the horrific conditions some dogs live in their whole lives. This painting reflects what a difference we can make by adopting a dog and giving them HOPE!

A new medium!!

So, I have had the chance to do some really unusual things in the last few months, how exciting! I have discovered a new medium, quite by accident. A cherished client wanted something unusual for a friend whose beloved dog, Potion, had passed away, unexpectedly at the too young age of seven. I know nothing of agility titles but Potion had a string of them. We wanted to commemorate him in a special way. The inspiration for making a pillow was born. We started with the titles and wanted to do scenes that would reflect these. We chose these 2 photos.

The friend loves bright colors so we found some beautiful fabric for the back which had a wave design.

I figured unprimed canvas would act like fabric, right? My husband thought I was crazy because unprimed canvas is not smooth and does not accept paint well. I would not be deterred and found a way to make it work, you know me! This was the preview for her approval.

The finished product turned out better than I could ever have hoped for!! If you’re looking for a unique gift, maybe we can find another exciting project to work on!

Harley and Moe

I do so many artworks in memoriam. Sometimes it breaks my heart but I am humbled to create what, I hope, will always bring a special memory. This story starts with a client and 2 special Springer Spaniel brothers, Harley and Moe, who were very much alive when we started this project and celebrating their 10th birthday.

Moe had some health issues and Harley was diagnosed with lymphoma and was being treated so we had no idea how much time was left. Sadly, Harley died in February and Moe in July, both before I could start this painting so once again, painting in memoriam.

Harley and Moe are missed so much but their painting is hanging in a special place where it can be seen many times a day. I hope it will always bring very special memories!

2017 went out with a bang and 2018 started the same way! Lots of work done and lots of work to do!!

I usually have a limit of one Bulldog per year since they are so difficult to do , just kidding! In all honesty, they ARE difficult to do. Lots of detail and personality in a Bulldog. 2018 has started off with an order for FOUR Bulldog ornaments! I will get thru it with the same attention to detail that I always give. Four new personalities coming up!

The Bond of Sisterhood

Jessica and Lucy

16×20, Oil on Gessobord

I received this order in October, paid in full on Etsy. I panicked because I knew I was already booked until after Christmas. The client assured me she just wanted to get in my queue and it was no rush. What a wonderful client she turned out to be! Not only did I receive this awesome photo to paint from, the dog on the right, Lucy, is not even her dog! She is the sister of Jessica and belongs to someone else! I was astounded that someone would pay for a portrait of someone else’s dog. It turns out that Jessica and Lucy are very bonded. Although they don’t live together, they spend a lot of time together and it was just natural to paint them together. Like I said, a most wonderful client. Thank you Michelle!!

Details!

Details, details, details…..

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love to paint details. The tinier the brush, the better. Here are a few details of my project to benefit the Old Friends Senior Dog Sanctuary and their benefit http://dogartforoldfriends.org/ . Stay tuned for more updates!
