1000 Dogs

I have exciting news in that my art is going to be in two published books! I had forgotten that I even submitted images for this book as it’s been almost a year. But I received news recently that 3 of my water color paintings have been included in Rockport Publishers new book, 1,000 Dog Portraits by Robynne Raye! I am on page 126 and 129 and I am so very honored!
1,000 Dog Portraits showcases a compilation of quirky, fun, fanatical illustrations, paintings, and drawings from artists around the globe. The book is available for pre-order and I think anyone, who loves dogs, would love a copy.

Nora

As an artist, sometimes there are subjects that just speak to your heart more than others. Such is the case with Nora.

Nora was one of 100 Brittanies rescued last July from a breeder who could no longer care for them. She was HW+ and terrified of people. Her foster family decided to adopt her and she was slowly coming around. The unthinkable happened in January when she slipped her leash while vacationing in Florida. I heard about her story at this point and every day held my breath waiting to hear of her being found. Well, after a month of searching, and against all odds, she was found! I painted this, from my heart, in honor of Nora and as a gift for her wonderful family that never gave up on her.  Nora, 4″x4″, acrylic on Gessobord.

Memory Boxes

So many new artworks to post! This is one of my favorites. It’s a memory box suitable for ashes and keepsakes of your beloved pet. 8.5 x 5.5 x 3″.

I decided last year that I would at least try all the art supplies I have accumulated. Watercolor went well! This is my first real try at pastel. Don’t thinking I’ll switch from painting any time soon but it was fun (and a cute subject too!)

5×7 Oil on panel

This started out as a portrait but did not look like the dog I was painting. Sometimes photos are misleading. It was too cute not to finish so I made it kind of whimsical and gave it the happy name of Smile!

This is my newest artwork. This is a rescued Springer Spaniel in ESRA’s care in California. When I saw his pictures posted, I knew I had to paint him. Just look at that mischievous look in his eye. I’m now looking for the perfect title for this piece. 8×10 oil on panel
